In this article, I argue that as AI shifts from pilot to everyday workflow in the public sector, the true transformation will come down to people, not just technology. I outline the essential skills—from AI literacy and prompt-engineering to critical thinking and ethical oversight—that every civil servant will need, and I highlight how senior leaders must evolve into “AI architects of transformation” to build a modern, resilient civil service.
